| 092.001 | |
| Yusufali: | By the Night as it conceals (the light); |
| Pickthall: | By the night enshrouding |
| 092.002 | |
| Yusufali: | By the Day as it appears in glory; |
| Pickthall: | And the day resplendent |
| 092.003 | |
| Yusufali: | By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- |
| Pickthall: | And Him Who hath created male and female, |
| 092.004 | |
| Yusufali: | Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. |
| Pickthall: | Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). |
| 092.005 | |
| Yusufali: | So he who gives (in charity) and fears (God), |
| Pickthall: | As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) |
| 092.006 | |
| Yusufali: | And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- |
| Pickthall: | And believeth in goodness; |
| 092.007 | |
| Yusufali: | We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. |
| Pickthall: | Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. |
| 092.008 | |
| Yusufali: | But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, |
| Pickthall: | But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, |
| 092.009 | |
| Yusufali: | And gives the lie to the best,- |
| Pickthall: | And disbelieveth in goodness; |
| 092.010 | |
| Yusufali: | We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; |
| Pickthall: | Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. |
| 092.011 | |
| Yusufali: | Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). |
| Pickthall: | His riches will not save him when he perisheth. |
| 092.012 | |
| Yusufali: | Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, |
| Pickthall: | Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance |
| 092.013 | |
| Yusufali: | And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. |
| Pickthall: | And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. |
| 092.014 | |
| Yusufali: | Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; |
| Pickthall: | Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire |
| 092.015 | |
| Yusufali: | None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones |
| Pickthall: | Which only the most wretched must endure, |
| 092.016 | |
| Yusufali: | Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. |
| Pickthall: | He who denieth and turneth away. |
| 092.017 | |
| Yusufali: | But those most devoted to God shall be removed far from it,- |
| Pickthall: | Far removed from it will be the righteous |
| 092.018 | |
| Yusufali: | Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, |
| Pickthall: | Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). |
| 092.019 | |
| Yusufali: | And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, |
| Pickthall: | And none hath with him any favour for reward, |
| 092.020 | |
| Yusufali: | But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; |
| Pickthall: | Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. |
| 092.021 | |
| Yusufali: | And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. |
| Pickthall: | He verily will be content. |
Let us pray (Sura 20, Ayat 114) 'Ya Rabbi Zidni Ilma!' ('O Lord! Increase me in knowledge.') and seek spiritual help (ta'yid) to understand our great faith.
