In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
| 104.001 | |
| Yusufali: | Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, |
| Pickthall: | Woe unto every slandering traducer, |
| 104.002 | |
| Yusufali: | Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by, |
| Pickthall: | Who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it. |
| 104.003 | |
| Yusufali: | Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever! |
| Pickthall: | He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. |
| 104.004 | |
| Yusufali: | By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces, |
| Pickthall: | Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One. |
| 104.005 | |
| Yusufali: | And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces? |
| Pickthall: | Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Consuming One is! |
| 104.006 | |
| Yusufali: | (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) God kindled (to a blaze), |
| Pickthall: | (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled, |

| Yusufali: | The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts: |
| Pickthall: | Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men). |

| Yusufali: | It shall be made into a vault over them, |
| Pickthall: | Lo! it is closed in on them |

| Yusufali: | In columns outstretched. |
| Pickthall: | In outstretched columns. |
Let us pray (Sura 20, Ayat 114) 'Ya Rabbi Zidni Ilma!' ('O Lord! Increase me in knowledge.') and seek spiritual help (ta'yid) to understand our great faith.
